I've used the "loaner" tool from Advance Auto, which is a screw with
suitable plate.  It's a bit of a pain, but the tools works.  I just get
the tool whenever I get rear brake pads.

Another things I do is file or at least wire brush the slide points.
Over the years, I have found that either a file or a light grind to the
wear points on pads helps keep them from sticking.  I've never had noticable
chatter from filing them.
