Reply to Mark. Haven't touched the Quantum for a while. Got the '54 Hudson Hornet running today. Found the auxiliary electric fuel pump had a loose connection at the ignition switch. I had assumed the fuel pump was bad, so now have a spare new 6 volt $70 electric fuel pump, but I know I will need it in the future. Wish I could fix the Quantum that easily.
Since I made a spare 1 gallon gravity fuel tank, I plan to see if my '80 Dasher parts car runs & also my '81 Rabbit parts car. If they do, they will donate an IP to the Quantum, if not successful in re timing it again, & will try the tow again first. Oh, I did check the fuel cut off solenoid & there is power to the glow plugs. One more question. Could my failure to replace the injector washers be a cause to my problems? However, I used them over when I had the head rebuilt & it started quickly & ran fine before I started messing with the IP, due to its leaking from the rear "O" ring. I am suspecting the replacement IP was not properly rebuilt.
