Dad's Passat has lurched/surged pretty badly ever since we chipped
it. Pretty much any time it's below 1,600 RPM and not accelerating
or decelerating. 25 MPH is borderline a 2nd gear occasion.
I had instructions to take the 13,xxx number in the settings thing
and drop it by 100 to start with. Did that and Dad said it's a whole
new car! He's happy, even though the Golf doesn't start.
I have the same problem only very lightly so, I went to do the
same thing on mine. Got into the section though and it only
had 87 as the number. The mg/stroke had been 2.2 on Dad's
and it upped it to 3.4 - 3.6. Mine was sitting at 9.7 or something
like that! Hmmm, didn't want to add MORE fuel, which is the
"solution" so I started increasing the number to try and hit something
close to the number that worked for Dad's car. I got to 132 and
that was the end. It got down to 3.6 - 3.8 which took the fuel
consumption from .74l/h to .34l/h or something about that. Quite
a change! It smoothed out the stuttering or "shudder" as well!
Odd thing is there's a section with injector compensation for
"smooth running." I figured that would show a bad injector if one
number had much compensation on it, which mine did, all negative.
So, I rechecked Dad's and it had basically the same thing only they
were all positive numbers. Guess it doesn't do what I was thinking?
Couldn't find where to bump up the idle either. So much to do and
so few access codes!
