[Vwdiesel] '02 Golf starts/dies

Aah, didn't think about that.  It was a Digifant Cabby, but it had two pumps and the pump in the tank was a higher volume, low pressure pump so it wasn't a problem.  

If the pump in the newer cars is indeed two-in-one, then I suppose it would be a bad idea to just put it in!  Unless you could adapt some kind of pressure regulator.

But if you were going to all that trouble, maybe a simple 12v in-line pump would be appropriate.  Fuel will flow through it even if off, so you could just hook it up so that it could be turned on only when needing to prime after a filter change or something.  I'd put it closer to the tank so it would prime easily.
