Indeed, photos show 'milled' exhaust manifold flange tips.
 Milling rate about 9" per second, plus cooling period whilst I walk round 
the table to pull from other end, plus 9 pregnant pauses whilst head lifted 
to  allow photography :o)
First set of milling done without counter weight which concentrated  loading 
on manifold tips.
Finally; I did have 4 layers of plate, but alas my counterweight fell off 
and clipped the edge of bottom 2 protruding sheets ;o(

Oh yeah, I like that "ditto" kind of thing I'd do to annoy my
