And I've had bad ones from *all* the "discount" suppliers except the local
independent as well.
Local independent guy has a reputation to uphold because he wants repeat
business, the others can act the hero when they warranty rebuilt items that
shouldn't have gone bad in the first place. Reason they go bad, is the
rebuilder working on contract for them, is on such a tight margin out of
necessity can't budget for quality or quantity of new parts.  They only
change stuff that is obviously blown, shiny up the commutator, new cheapest
bearings, and it's out the door with the absolutely cheapest new parts he
can source.  Independent guy can't afford to do things over and over, so he
actually tests things, and gets it right the first time with quality parts
that don't have comebacks, unless he's a shark too...
