The voltage isn't suppose to drop like that when loaded. What you are doing is basically a cheap battery tester. The testers put a load on a battery and it checks the voltage drop and it shows if the battery is good (more expensive ones are electronic and can tell a good battery even if not fully charged, have those at the mine I'm at). Replace the battery. I don't know what you want to replace it with but I have found that if you get one with a warranty then get one that you can find anywhere you travel. I had a warranty at a car parts store that I was 1000 miles away for the whole summer. Lesson learned.
Oil pump. I have mechanical oil pressure gauges on my 2 rabbits and both start out really high. One is extremely high so I think temps may still affect the pop pressure even past the 90 psi you found. Mine both go past that (had 3 different gauges, one cheap, one carquest, one autometer). Was there possible coolant in the engine to spin a main bearing. I don't think there would have been a gear to mess up. You just have to get the vacuum pump lined up on the shaft of the oil pump and the intermediate shaft gear. Plus if you did something wrong you wouldn't have been able to drive it that far I don't think. Correct me if I'm wrong but you only changed the oil pump and not anything with the oil pressure (you didn't somehow lower the pressure). If that is all you did was change the pump then I don't think that was the problem (other wise others including myself would have bad engines). Hope you find the problem and let us know what happened.
The reuseable cover gasket I haven't had issues with. The hardest part was getting the old studs out and that know ones in to do it. You may have overtightened or have a cut in one spot or didn't line everything up just right. Where is it leaking? If it is on the ends of the cam then I would say it is kinked. If on the longer sides then I would say the cover is warped or there is a cut. Also did you put the top staps on top of the cover correctly (that help even the pressure on the cover). Just thoughts. I would take it back off and inspect.
