OK, "trying" to learn from my "taking the long way" I will pull the injectors and have them bench tested before pulling the motor.
I can also pull the pan and inspect the lower end, less time then swapping motors.
Still does not explain the low oil pressure, but I will try this first.

Actually when the main bearing are truely 'spun' they'll often increase oil
pressure becase they seize to the crankshaft sealing the oil hole.
Rod bearings can cause a hard knock as the bearing allows the piston to
reach up and tap the head on exhaust/intake stroke.
But with 35k miles, for me, it's likely the knock is a bad injector steaming
fuel unevenly in the cylinder causing the piston to 'rock' or slap in the
cylinder.
