[Vwdiesel] Power steering rack question

> On a Cabriolet, it could slide out side to side when unbolted.  In my old Corrado (which was based on sort of a mix of A2 and A3 stuff, I unbolted and lowered the subframe (It more or less hung by the motor mounts at that point for a little while, and was able to get the rack out the back of the subframe.  Definately tight, though.

That turned out to be the winner.  I finally broke down and removed the 
subframe.  I didn't honestly know that it was removable never having had 
to mess with that system before.  I had already removed so many parts 
that the whole works just fell right out.  On my thumb.  Regardless, 
that appears to be the way to go.  Unless I have done something very 
wrong in a previous life, I'll never have to do that job on an A2 again, 
but there's the knowledge for the benefit of the world.
