Thank you for the replies. Answer to why did I but ATF fluid into the IP? To hopefully swell the seals so to stop the leak. In answer to the suggestion re a worn bushing. I still have the original IP. Thanks to one of your suggestions, I will take the cold start assembly from the original IP, provided it does not wiggle, re-seal it & use it on the improperly rebuilt pump, probably tomorrow.
