I was talking about the flapper that has one shaft adn 4 butterfly valves on them right near where the manifold bolts on not the anti shudder single flap before the EGR. You can turn down your EGR on your ALH with VAG COM. I just took mine out as I have a tune waiting to install from my q-loader once the car starts. After a case of carb cleaner and ruining a baby bottle cleaner brush I got my intake 95% clean. Just some stains left-no chunks. I also posted the same question about the flapper on a different forum and it was determined that it was for lower RPM to calm things down some as it is pretty volatile at idle and to help with shut down. But a few have noticed low rpm torque but unplugging the vac line leading up to it since the default position is open. No computer sensors. So I took it totally out and plugged the shaft exit hole. I go with the logic that less air restriction the more efficient.
Now off to the cam timing.
