Is the Cabrio getting a Turbo on the engine. I can't remember. If so then that will be quit enough actually. To be legal though you need a "muffled" exhaust with a glass back can provide you with enough on that. My stock 1.6 exhaust and engine in my 81 truck goes like this. The tail pipe is very quite but the engine is really loud. A cop was going to give me a ticket once for my exhaust till he had to run to another urgent call. I laughed at that since it was all stock. It was the diesel knock he was hearing and I couldn't do a thing about that. The turbo engines don't seem to knock as loud as the NA ones. I have a 2.5 stainless mandrel bent Techtonics exhaust on my 81 car with a straight through stainless borla muffler. Very quite. Still some diesel knock but not like my truck. It is livable. I still wear ear plugs if going on more then a few hour trip in either rabbit (only have one set of ears).
Make sure you check with your state rules on the side exit exhaust. Some states may not allow it. It might be tough to fit any more then a glassback in the system since the mufflers room is behind the axle and there isn't much room in front.
When you tighten the flywheel/pressure plate you need to wire it to the bolt hole for the tranny to prevent slipping. Also need to try to always think ahead, example- if my wrench slips where is it going and where am I going so you can change your stance and the way you are handling the wrench or what ever so you don't get hurt or killed. Working at the coal mine has taught me many safety rules like that since starting work here.
As for the Harley exhaust. I come from a family of bikers. My father thought all harleys had to be loud. Amazing how we all grow up. He know owns a harley that a fart is louder then it. I bought the "loud" 93 springer Harley from him and I am trying to figure a cheap way to get it quite again since he knocked the baffles out of the stock pipes. I put the stock pipes back on my Sportster Harley this year as I still had them and it was to the benefit of the passanger in my side car. I want to mount the sidecar on the Springer but need to find stock pipes again and get the carb rejetted. The loud pipes did save my life once though. A deer came over a small hill in the ditch while I was driving and I couldn't slow up and it was running wide open. I pulled the clutch in and reved the engine and it thankfully did a U turn. But I still want my bikes quite so I can comfortably drive them.
Sorry for the long posts.
