[Vwdiesel] 89 Jetta fuel pressure sensor?

Hello Sandy,

The IP on my 89 Jetta n.a. diesel has an acorn-sized thing at the bottom 
front of the pump, with a fuel line on one end and an electric wire on the 
other. The electric-wire tip of the acorn split off, taking the electric 
line with it. I can see inside the acorn, and there is a tiny hair-like 
copper wire coming out to where the cap broke off.

The engine runs without it, so I'm guessing it has something to do with 
fine-tuning how the pump delivers the fuel.

I just wondered if yours has such a gadget, and if you know what it does 
and how it does it.
