[Vwdiesel] Rolf's Golf - latest failure

Yes mine was a PD (BEW); but camshaft failures aren't exclusive to PD
engines.
I've heard that all VW diesels are sensitive to the engine oils used; it
would only take one bad oil change ( way too many miles or drastically wrong
oil) to give the camshaft the start it needs; to eventually catastrophic
failure.
I have an ALH setting in the garage with a broken rod. I haven't taken it
apart but it too; is also has a missing timing belt. The previous owner says
it had been changed only a few thousand miles earlier and the engine had not
been run out of oil.
I should pop the valve cover off and take a look see. eh.
