[Vwdiesel] changing A2 door handle key tumblers if you have no key?

Nope, nothing wrong with it, just missing the correct key for the pass side door handle tumbler.  I want to put my tumbler in but I think you are right, the screw is the only thing holding it in.  The correct key just makes it turn beyond the grooved slots on either side to lock and unlock the door.

good news, now to figure out how to get ride of all this snow.
another foot on the way tomorrow.  is 2 feet not enough from last sat.

Thanks Mark.

I'm fairly sure it just pulls out, and it's just the screw that holds it in. What are you missing? Is it the key, or is it that your existing lock is knackered. Often, very easy to change/rearrange tumblers to recreate your original setup...

good morning all.
I had a quick question on the old broken door handles, front.
I just get 2 used door handles from a guy on e-bay, real German ones.
The driver door handle he sent has a key that turns it, so I will swap this tumbler with the one that matches my key.
I have done these many times so I know how to do it, keeping a CLOSE eye on the spring return ring wire so it does not FLY away.

Now, if memory serves me, you need the correct key to turn the tumbler and pull it out after you remove the philips screw and the return spring.

So, if I do not have a key for this handle, can I get the lock tumbler out at all?

would I have to drill it out, which is not worth the time in my book.
