[Vwdiesel] Removing injectors

I've removed many injectors and have never removed the pump. There is not
any issue getting the first two removed unless the pump is an aneroid pump
and timed with it very close to the engine. Usually even with an aneroid
pump it's not an issue. If it is, then the pump can be retarded and then
reset after the injectors are removed and replaced. If it is properly timed
that close to the engine, then it is fairly easy to jump the timing belt one
tooth CW and re-time the pump to the same timing setting with it out of the
way of the injectors. The correct sizes are 27mm or 1-1/16" as a standard
conversion. I got my 1-1/16" deep socket from Sears. It is a good idea to
use a dremel and bit to enlarge the area where the barbs will be when the
socket is installed as they can get bent a little depending on the
orientation of the two halves of the injectors relative to each other.
