I agree completely. Check it now. Don't wait for when it's convenient. When
a car starts talking to you, you'd do best to listen. If it's squealing and
losing oil pressure, don't continue to run it until you have figured out
exactly what it's doing and why. I guess it's possible that it's something
small and not really a problem, but I don't think it's likely. Right now
it's cheap and relatively easy to fix, pretty much no matter what it is,
versus having to repair broken engines or replacing everything due to
catastrophic failure.
You don't have much to gain by risking it, and plenty to lose. With the
vehicle like that I would only drive it in emergency situations where it was
my life versus it's life, because very possibly driving it more is going to
do some very serious damage.
