So this is the PU engine, same as what I have in my 04 Jetta, BEW motor?
How the heck did the timing belt brake, I thought you put a new one on when you fixed the car after you got it from PA.?
Were can you get parts for that head? Are they 7mm valve stems I guess? I think all the newer heads use 7mm valve stems these days.
bummer, it was running so nice.
Not a good way to start of 2010.
I have my work ahead as well to get things back on the road, but temps are cold and the wind, boy, did we have cold temps and wind chils well below 0 this past few days.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Oh Fudge (timing belt broke)
While taking our daughter back to UW, my wife had to drive the pu
to work. Every time she drives it she asks if it'll start, if it'll run,
what
if... I don't know why since every morning, I climb in, glow and go!
Well, tonight, she gets halfway down the street and it dies. Dad goes
to check on it and I suspect the stop solenoid, what else could it be?
Yeah, the worst thing it could be. So, tomorrow, instead of fixing
tractors for pay, I'll pull the head, order parts then rebuild the head
on Tuesday afternoon/evening and hopefully have the head back on
before Wed morning, when I have to put in carpet. At least if I'm
not done, the material is on site so I can throw the tools in the car
and go. Never fails I'll miss something doing it that way though...
Ugh!
