[Vwdiesel] Oil flow problem

I wouldn't put the old vac pump on just yet. My brother and I run the newer design with no issues other then the thing I stated. Might be wise of you to take the top cap off the vac pump and look for scarring on the rotary part and the cap. If there is any grit on that gets in there it will bind up and leave marks. Also if any condensation with thick cold oil with a loose timing belt might be enough to cause the belt to slip along with oil getting on the belt making it easier yet to slip. I would keep the newer vac pump on if it doesn't show any signs of damage as they are for the most part a maintenance free part (the newer ones). Take the timing belt cover off and look for oil and inspect your tensioner and int shaft pulleys. Seal up any leaks (including head gasket) and hopefully your problem will be solved. Don't drive anymore though.

Loren- by your post did you mean the timing belt failed? If so any thoughts as to why?
