No biggie, You actually have to pull the pump back about a half
a tooth to get the timing right anyway. Even with a pin in, the
tension in the pump, rotates it forward against the pin. Usually
close to a half tooth. IF you were off a tooth it probably wouldn't
start and would likely smoke a lot, two teeth and it sure won't start.
If the cam gear was loose then your tensioning mostly pulled around
that way. Some would rotate the crank a teensy bit but it won't be
enough to cause any cam problems. If you're on the right tooth and
belt tension, your timing should be spot on.
After the T-belt broke on the pickup, put it back on, new head
gasket and all, set belt tension, checked timing, even had 3 of the
bolts loose. Timing was dead on.
A few here have encountered your same "wrong flywheel" issue.
If it's the right flywheel then the "o" mark falls between two protruding
notches/bosses that are about 4 inches apart. Some are cast pretty
lightly and hard to see. If it's indeed wrong you'll have to pull an
injector and probe for TDC and make your own mark.
