Friend has to upgrade his interface cable to the newest version (he
owns a repair shop.) The fairly new Audi that was brought to him,
for brakes, requires it. In order to install new brake pads he needs
to tell the (not sure if it's parking brake or brake adjustment) servos
to back off via the computer. Yes, the computer now handles brake
adjustment.

Yeah, ever been around a bug with a hole in the muffler? V-8's are
tame! You might be able to do something that works and is still
aesthetic. Since you're not likely to go full tilt, you might be able
to make an insertable set of baffles that can go inside the upright
pipes. I made something like that for my wife's Yamaha DS6, which
has aftermarket, nearly straight-pipes on it. Worked great and didn't
bog it until the last addition, which I'll just remove. Then if you do
go out racing, you can just pull the inserts and have full, ear-splitting
power!
