[Vwdiesel] Transmission change--Hayden?

I have the TDI motor from the '96 Passat and I want to put it in something.  My original plan was to stick it into the '78 Bus, though I'm starting to wonder if it is somethig I can afford to do right now and am considering moving it to the '92 Cabriolet for now, at least kinda temporarily.

Any thoughts on how difficult it would be to put the Passat's cable-actuated trans in the Cabriolet?  Does someone make a kit to do such?  I'm aware that the TDI motor would bolt to the Cabriole trans, but I'm sure the TDI trans is geared better, seeings how that is what it was made for.
