I am not happy with our Calif. Air Resources (CARB) Nazis. They have long reached the law of diminishing returns but feel they have toe get every polluting car off the road even though the results could not be measured in terms of air quality. Although a liberal in many areas which I won't elaborate on as I do not want to start a political discussion, I AM NOT an environmental extremist or fan of the endangered species act. All I wanted to do, was notify you of what has actually happened in this state & suggest you might want to stick to 1997 or older diesels. It is amazing that while the state is laying off government employees, releasing felons from prison, raising college tuition rates so that many people can't afford to go to college, that to my knowledge, are not laying off any regulatory agencies including CARB. Calif. has their own OSHA. While I am in favor of safe work places, I don't know why Calif. has to duplicate a federal agency, they short change cities & counties so they have to lay off police. I don't want this group to turn into a political discussion, but this is another example where politics affects our lives. We do have an organization organized to protect the car hobby from such government interference such as this. It is called the "Association of Calif. Car Clubs". Their website is www.acccdefender.org . SEMA also has a national organization to provide similar protection on a national level as well as in other states. I don't know what, if any such organization exists for Canada. Get involved politically, the car you save may be your own. If there is enough interest in this, perhaps we could set up a parallel discussion group, but lets keep this discussion group primarily centered about diesels.
