Bill,
Don't worry about minor leaks on the injector off take lines etc, untill all
is great, as you may need to swap them out and begin sealing leaks all over.
By fuel going back to the tank, I'm mainly concerned with, after shut down,
does the transparent fuel supply to the pump syphon back either through the
pump, or fuel filter. This would cause you to need to 'reprime the pump'
again.
On a fully functioning pump, this only takes seconds, as the high pressure
lines do not drain back, and the lift pump only needs to pressurise the
remaining fuel, to continue injecting.
Try and get the engine noise to clack a bit, which is near to the ideal
operating point. The cold start lever merely rotates a 'wedge' that pushes
the timing piston, and I don't think that can be wrong , unless the wedge
part is missing somehow.
This is not really important though, as I find my car doesn't need the cold
start, and indeed has not been connected for at least 2 years, including
winter temps of -13 deg C.
What break pressures did you get you injectors set to in the end? The lower
the pressure, the more advanced the injection is, and changes the required
mm setting on the pump.
Regards
Mark
