[Vwdiesel] seeking thoughts on acel cable parts and fuel system in a swap

I haven't had time to look at much email the past few days, so I'm playing catch up here...

On my '86 converted Cabby:

I can't remember for sure, but it seems like I used the accelerator cable and bits out of the donor car.

For the fuel pump/lines. I mounted the separator on the passenger side like the diesel car. I also used the cabby fuel lines, but you'll note that the lines run along the passenger side, up the firewall, and over to the driver side. I simply cut them off right before they went over.

I also used the fuel pump. I found a relay that had the large spades like the fuel pump relay, but was built like a simple on/off (headlight style) relay. I found it in a relay box of old VW relays, so I can't say what it came off of. Swapping this in turned the fuel pump from the tank on anytime the key was on.

This proved handy when changing the filter and such with bleeding the lines, and certainly didn't hurt anything, as any extra fuel is returned to the tank anyway. Also, if you only wanted to use it switched for bleeding lines, fuel flows through the pump just fine when it is off. I did pry the little screen off the bottom of the pump.
