[Vwdiesel] alternator bracket rabbit, jetta, vanagon

The seized 11mm 1.6NA in Westy #2 is being removed. I've got the
bracket and alternator for the 3-bolt Rabbit-style alternator bracket,
and the 4-bolt mid-80s (non-a/c) Jetta-style alternator bracket.

I'm planning on putting in a new Vanagon water pump housing (for correct
water hose sizes), but use a new 30mm rabbit/jetta hub water pump.

Looks like the older 3-hole bracket leaves more space to work around the
pump housing, but the newer 4-hole bracket has that nice gear/bolt to
tighten the alternator belt.

Both brackets take 65a alternators. I would *really* like to put in a
90a, but haven't found the easy way to do so.

The rabbit alternator is cheaper, but looks a little smaller??

Any thoughts on reliability, preferences?

I'm not really interested in going to the shim-system, so I'm okay with
a hybrid setup.

Thanks,

Will.
