[Vwdiesel] installing main crank seal??

Yep, welding. Covered the block with layers of old t-shirts/jeans,
rested a big fat bolt on top of the stud (a little was still sticking
out) and filled the bolt with wire drippings. let cool 10 minutes and
it screwed out by hand. :)
I just hope it didn't swell the block too much - but I like to worry ;)
Lots of rust on the bolt. Makes me wonder where the moisture was coming
from.
Just ordered a 12mmx1.75 bottom tap from Grainger. Previously I was
using a taper tap, which cleaned the threads pretty well, but the last
head gasket I did the ARP stud wouldn't go all the way in one hole that
was pretty dirty (or I accidentally cut new threads in??) - sooo, trying
a bottoming tap this time.
