There isn't a reason not to go with the larger tires just as long as they fit. Should give a bit of a lift to help you out in some areas. Just make sure they don't touch the inside of the fender wells when turning (I don't think they will but never hurts to check). Might help get your speedo more correct since most are under rated by about 2 mph.
Turbo could last the lift of your car depending on how you take car of it. That means no shutting the car off at full throttle (fast rpm on the turbo with no oil as it spins to a stop) and no shutting off the car or killing the car while under full load (cokes oil in the bushing/bearing). Also don't lug your car under lot as it can spike the turbo and don't drive under 2000 rpm much as it can build carbon into the vanes of the turbo and it too can kill it. Also any obstructions going into the turbo can dust it and break/pit the turbo fins. So after all that it should last a long time. Cat has us change turbos every 5000 hours to keep the warranty on there engines which last about 12000-20000 hours depending on the dozer/shovel. So if that was a car doing an average of 45 MPG (town and country driving) the turbo would get 225K miles and the engine 540-900k miles and that is loaded 50-75% of the time. I think VW would do better if someone could drive the car that long.
