[Vwdiesel] OT: Keeping Silicone sealant "fresh"

OK all you smarter and better looking folks:

Anyone out there have any good tricks to keep those tubes of silicone sealant from drying out?  The best thing I've come up with is to remove the tube, throw it away after the first use, and put the cap on.  Then you only have a little bit dried out, which you can use a screwdriver to push inside the tube in order to get more out the second time you need some.

There has to be a better way to keep from wasting all that stuff.  Any ideas?
