I've had pretty good luck with tightly wrapping the tip with aluminum foil. The sealant
in the tube will cure in time, but usually can unscrew the tip, push out the cured
sealant, screw it back on and then use the rest of the tube. As long as it does not sit
for a few years, can usually use most of the tube.
