I have a Class 1 hitch on my 95 Jetta TD. Front wheel drive can become touchy if the trailer is loaded fully and exceeds the 100 lb tongue weight/1000 lb trailer GVW.
Only fuel pump on mine is the injection pump.

My 81 rabbit has a VW OEM hitch and it says 1000 towing 100 tongue weight. I have hauled close to that. The rear engine can get squirmy since it is such a light designed car.
There is fuel pumps on the 1.9 TD aaz engine. They are similar to the other manual injection pumps. Some had a fuel enrichment thing on them attached to a vacuum. Some don't have that (mine doesn't). I don't know how to do it but have read some doing it. Otherwise Giles does it more tuned to gain around 10 HP and gain MPG as well and makes the value of your car go up. He does more then just the screw adjustment.
