Just have to comment that the 4000CS Quattro is an incredible winter car...
unstoppable with both diffs locked, even on so-so tires. I had a
clapped-out version with 250k miles in college and drove it back and forth
over Willamette pass in the winter many times. After spending one cold
winter assuming that the heated seats were broken, I was cleaning the car
one day only to peer under the seats and find that they were just unplugged!
That sure was a happy day!
The only complaints I can think of are that the vacuum-based functionality
(of which there is lots) would tend to get flaky as the vacuum hoses rotted
with age... that and the air cleaner was damned near impossible to access!
Unless there was some trick that I didn't know about...
If only I could have that car with a diesel I'd be in heaven!
