[Vwdiesel] Windshield leaks.

I've been fighting the sunroof leaks/wet floors in my TDI issue for a long long time now.  I cleared the drain lines and sealed them to their respective nipples.  I replaced the hood release grommet and hopefully, that will slow it down a little.  Up came tonight, however, a giant, but fast storm.  I was able to sit in the car in the rain with the front of the headliner down.  

What I learned was that the windshield seal is leaking at the top.  It's a glued-in windshield.  I'm guessing I need to run a bead of some kind of sealant around there.  Any thoughts as to type of sealer/ etc?  The windshield has a star crack in it that's starting to spread so I'll most likely need a new windshield soon any how, but I'd like to get my money's worth out of it anyways.
