Skip the JB Weld. Have you considered putting a TDI crank on? They
have a different way to secure the crank to the nose. Cut the crank nose
on the opposite of the damage, and attach. FYI, there are 12mm?? and
14mm?? crank bolts. The new bolts are the larger ones.
