[Vwdiesel] dang Meyle vacuum pump gaskets blowing

Put a new Meyle not-made-in-Germany Vacuum Pump gaskets in the 81 1.6NA
pickup end of this past summer.  

The new round one cracked after a couple months - around Thanksgiving
(near zero temps).

Put in another Meyle not-made-in-Germany set, and now I've got hard
non-functioning brakes again after a MONTH!  

The last set lasted 6 years, What the HECK!

I know I could put in a new-style pump, but don't have an extra one
lying around.  And, this is the beater truck.

Anyone have luck with other brands/sources for the gasket, or did I just
get a bum batch?
