  I worked on one once, similar story only it had 170K miles with nothing 
but a
timing belt ever done to it.  I think most of the glow plugs were ok but 
the 
injectors weren't!  They were all bad enough it wouldn't start anymore.  
New 
belt, injectors and whatever incidentals and they said it ran as good as 
ever!
So they proceeded to keep going when a hose blew and got it so hot it 
melted 
the silicone bead out of the head gasket.  :-(
