I don't think I ever did get a cold start cable installed in my cabriolet. I may have just set the timing a touch more advanced, but either way it never was a problem starting.
I do remember always having the idea for one... On at least the '86, to the left of the steering wheel, is a pull handle of some sort. On mine it was actually just a blanking plate so I don't know what option it may have been used for, though it seems like I was told once that there were cars that used the same dash and it was actually a place for a cold start cable on those cars. Now I can't remember if either of the '92s had this same blanking plate, either.
I wish I could remember better, but I do remember thinking that it would be the perfect place to set up a cold start cable without drilling holes anywhere.
I also remember briefly investigating the automatic cold start mechanism on some cars (maybe Volvo?) but didn't bother to investigate real far.
