If this isn't phishing, it certainly does a good job of masquerading  
as it. I deleted the notes. If the Yahoo group goes away, there will  
be others where I have no doubt of their legitimacy.

I also get repeated 'Welcome' messages from groups that I've never  
heard of. If the message was legit, you would receive an invitation or  
a confirmation message (reply to confirm) that would address you  
individually by email address. You would not receive a group mail  
asking you to join.

Trash it and move on. Eventually, the list owner will do something  
about it else the group will die.
