  It wouldn't surprise me if your mpg drops, unless it was REALLY  smoking 
and you notice no loss in power after your adjustment.
  You might try pricing injectors, or just the nozzles and rebuild  
yourself, from an earlier 1.6 or even a 1.5.  The price jumps stupidly as I  
recall, after '86 models for some reason.  Not sure if that was just the  nozzles 
or the complete assy.
