[Vwdiesel] PD Cam

Memory tells me that the ZDDP will kill the catalyst in the exhaust if
allowed to go through the system. (as normal CCV does)
I believe that's why the push to reduce the ZDDP in the first place. Amsoil
sort of scares me, I been using Elf Solaris, and Motul Specific. I have a
hard time trusting stuff I find in Peavey Mart, as everything else that is
in that store is there because of a huge margin of profit, not because it is
any good. Sometimes the two coincide, but not very often...

I have been using the Euro oil from Amsoil for some time. No bad issues with
it and no cam issues yet with about 60K and counting using it. But for the
CBEA (common rail engines) you can't use it as the ash content or something
like that is too high for the exhaust. Who would have thought we would have
to worry about what kind of oil to use just to meat the exhaust standards.

new "classic car" synthetic motor for older collector cars. It apparently
has ZDDP added to the oil. If interested, go to www.amsoil.com. They also
have a "European" Motor Oil, formulated to meet VW TDI specs. I haven't
checked either of these oils out as what I have been using has been quite
satisfactory & I don't have a TDI.
