Any chance a cheap (like Standt) thermostat was used?
Mine lost the back valve rivet after about 10K miles, and 30K later made a
perfect fit into the impeller inlet. That stopped all coolant flow.
I still have the thermostat pieces...looking at them on the shelf, right now.
