[Vwdiesel] morning breath

Starting up the '00 TDI the last few months, there's been a pretty heavy cloud of white Diesel smoke first thing in the morning.  It starts fine, just has a choking fuel cloud.  As far as I know, the glow plugs are fine (no codes), and I already rebuilt the injectors (I figured 275,000 mi. was a good run).  Any other ideas?  The old '85 TD doesn't do that, so I figure the more advanced TDI shouldn't either.  Doesn't affect running or anything.  Just finished an 1800 mile road trip, got 49 mpg the whole way.
