[Vwdiesel] PROTHE on ebay??

This is all from experience, my own that is. I know nothing of what Cessna
is doing, nor does it affect what I think of Chinese parts for European
cars. I bought those chinese made wheel cylinders about two monts ago, and
they did not fit. Now, unless the Chinese have made nearly impossible leaps
in the last two months, their quality control in this regards to VAG parts
is not anywhere good enough for me to consider for my own car, much less a
customer car. Cessna is probably over there overlooking the build of those
planes, BTW. Something you and I cannot do with regards to our auto parts.
My neighbor in the business complex is designing computer game seats, and
they are being manufactured in China. Guess how many problems he has had to
deal with so far? He has just started with the first run, and I think has
lost nearly all of his hair in just a couple of months. However, they build
things so inexpensively (and cheaply in many cases) that he will use them to
get the product to people very inexpensively.

I'm not saying that the Chinese are not increasing quickly, and they will
some day produce good quality items. I know they will, it is just a question
of when. Look at what happened with Japan, and Korea for that matter.
Remember the first Hyundai? It was crap. I worked at a very large salvage
yard from 90-93, and we had tons of Excel's with 60-80k, blown
engines/transmissions/falling apart in general. Look at Hyundai's quality
rating today, generally second on the list behind Toyota. Yes, they will
improve, but it has not happened in their auto industry yet.

I'm very sorry to hear of your experience with the late model engines. I
will agree, they overlook things. Everyone does. You've never dealt with a
late model 6.4L Ford diesel engine needing replacement? How about the pre
pump on the Cummins in Dodge's from 94-02? Nissan head gaskets (in just
about anything late model)? Honda transmissions (I have a close friend with
an 02 that has gone through two already, 140k)? Nobody makes a perfect car,
we are imperfect humans, after all. However, the engineering that goes into
a European car is second to none, in the auto field. Spend a lot of time
wrenching on all different makes and models with an open mind, and you will
see that. You will also see that some of the things they overlook have very
simple fixes, some don't. And, some of them are very expensive to repair,
while others are not.

At the end of the day, this is all just opinion based on experience. It's
your car, use what you choose.

Tony
