I have also just resorted to just pulling the jetta behind a vehicle to get
it running. Saves on the battery and starter.

In my experience, these self purge fast enough that cracking, cranking,
tightening, cranking and starting uses more cranking time than just cranking
and starting. Cummings, Tractors and so on, it definitely speeds up the
process.
