Looks identical to the salvage unit I put in my A1 pickup. Mine was a 1.9
out of a 92 Canada market Jetta 5sp.
The t-belt cover gap is where there is a bit of a clip in the cover that is
supposed to snap over the fixed portion, and just isn't snapped on. I
couldn't use it, had to go to a steel one, as it wouldn't fit around the RH
mount I fabbed to use more block holes than the stock 1.6d bracket I had.

Judging by the transmission/linkage, that is off an A3 vehicle, so maybe
mid-late '90s model?

probably do a better price but it'd probably take some patience and asking
really nicely. That's how I got the RD28s. Took a few month,, Parvis
making a trip to Japan but I got two for less than half of the ebay price
for one.
