[Vwdiesel] ALH injection pump

I'd wondered if there wasn't a slight fuel leak somewhere on the '00 Jetta and then today, a friend said something about a powerful fuel smell. A poor sense of smell is an occupational hazard of working at the sewer plant. I hadn't noticed how bad it'd gotten.
It looks like that at least one seal on my pump has let go. There were little pockets of Diesel in and around the nooks and crannies of the engine. I'm of two minds. I could track down all the seals and replace everything as best as I could figure out, or I could let the local independent VW shop see to it for $400. They re-seal them frequently, can get it done and the fueling adjusted in a day, and can guarantee the work. I've never done it before, and need the car turned around quicker than I could do it myself, most likely.
Anyone done all the seals? It looks to be something on the bottom that would require pulling the pump. I don't even know where to get all the odd wrenches to get the plates off.
Either way, I guess that's the end of my Christmas bonus :(
