Sandy, I have never swapped one of those.
look here, you can see the tab for the little screw on this piture of the switch.

do you have to remove the steering wheel, I am not sure. I know on a bug and a vanagon you do, but the lock barrel assembly comes out very easily when you put the key in and twist.
The screw that holds the switch in place is under the key barrel.

The ign sw on my 94 A3 is getting intermittent and needs a transfusion of yak fat or guanno to freshen it up.
I know where the little screw is that holds it in place on the A2 but I can't find it on the A3. I sure hope it is removable easily.
Any clues?
Looks like Bentley omits this by intent. only describes removing the whole barrel assembly, basically ruining the car.
I will NOT attempt to remove the lock barrel assembly, I'll install a row of household toggle switches on the dash first!
