Awesome news that you were able to do the pump re-sealing job yourself.
I have never tried to do much of anything when it comes to taking a pump apart, we all admire you guts....
Not an sandles guy either........

Sandals? We lit the fire over a month ago and it won't go out until probably April. Shop stove's been going a lot of the time too. Hardly get to wear a pair long enough to break them in and it's pretty dry and dusty then anyway.
Loren (obviously not a sandal guy) ;-)

Get some Rainbow brand sandals. They are guaranteed for life, if the strap
ulls out you get a new pair.

ou have to watch the torque on those flip flops. Too much, and it leads to
ailure, as you found out.
hat's why I stick to snow boots, besides, the flip flop straps get caught
n the footrests of my snowmobile on the jumps and are a distraction.
ood to hear of your successful diesel adventures.
latter on.

Well, I decided to go for it and got the seal kit for my '00 TDI. I watched
he excellent series of videos on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR44StvcXms), took copious notes, bought
verything ahead of time, and spent the afternoon. Everything went well,
nd I just got back from washing the engine again. Hopefully, no more
iesel shows up. There are a couple of seals that you can't get to with the
ump on the car. I'm hoping it's not one of them. I got the two on top,
he quantity adjuster and its cover, as well as the big one between the pump
ead and the pump body. I "saved" $400, but had to spend almost $150,
ostly on tools. I do feel a little better about doing the job myself. I
read taking my cars to someone else.
As far as I can tell, the only thing bad thing is the kind of thing that
appens working here outside in December. I broke a strap on my flip flop.
