Hi Brian,I bet you're a little excited to say the least!
A VW fanatic today asked me if I'd sell my GTD, as he'd seen it parked up
for months.

What does a Fox weigh compared to a Rabbit, Golf, Jetta, Dasher, or Quantum
for that matter?

I wonder if reducing that swirl recess will have much effect on it's
function?

I also have a problem visuallising what benefit reducing the compression
has, when seeking maximum or near maximum output power, when the power
output of an engine is surely based upon the force applied to the piston. So
to achieve say 150BHP you require a certain force acting in the chamber,
which, surely has to be the same whether running 23:1, or 18:1 isn't it?
Granted, it is also linked to average pressures.

Surely if it is only peak pressure you are trying to lower, then injecting
over a longer period, extended burn etc can be achieved with a lower
breaking pressure on an injector, or am I missing something fundmental in my
thought processes?

Additionally, I fail to see why an extra 100 psi, for example at no fuel
injection, gained from compression lowering, would be anything more than
100psi at 1200psi, or whatever combustion takes us to; indeed I assume that
it is less than that due to higher heat transfers.
Some Googling required I think...

James must be up to the task on this one when he's not writing about his
life in a Cannola field...

Mark
