Everytime we talk about brake and hydraulic fluid, I remember a story
of a local ham, Dick, who was the flight engineer on the Fuddy Duddy,
a B-17. They were shot up, and the gear wouldn't come down all the way,
and there was gunner trapped in the belly turret. So Dick passed around
a coffee can, and everyone "donated as best they could" and he poured the
"contributions" into the hydraulic system fill bottle.

The gear then lowered a little more, and the belly gunner lived for another
day.
